Luxury transport from Ramsgate: exclusive cars, cruise terminals and long-distance journeys across the UK

Luxury transport from Ramsgate is about the journeys that matter more than usual: an anniversary dinner in London, a wedding, a cruise that starts at Dover or Southampton, or a long drive to another city that you would rather not make yourself. Express Travel Kent covers them with executive cars, people carriers for groups and as-directed hire by the hour or day, all pre-booked at a fixed fare.

Here is what exclusive travel means in practice, how the cruise ports work from Ramsgate, and how to plan a long-distance journey anywhere in the UK.

Luxury transport from Ramsgate, in plain terms

Exclusive here means the car is yours for the booking: no other passengers and no shared route, with a driver who goes where you have arranged. Luxury means the executive car, which seats up to four with space for two or three large cases, or an estate or people carrier when the group or the luggage is bigger.

As-directed hire takes it a step further. Book a car and driver by the hour or for a whole day and the plan is yours: a dinner and a show, a day of visits, or a wedding party moving between the ceremony and the reception.

Ramsgate to the Dover cruise terminals

The Port of Dover is around 30 to 40 minutes from Ramsgate by road, on the A256. Its two cruise terminals, known as CT1 and CT2, are both at the Western Docks. Check which one your ship uses in your cruise documents and give it to us when you book. Pickups for a Dover sailing work from any address in CT11 and CT12, including Minster, Monkton and the villages west of the harbour.

Cruise luggage is bulky, so two people with two large cases each will need the estate rather than a saloon. Ferry crossings from Dover can be booked in the same way, and there is no need to look for a sailing from Ramsgate itself: the town's port has had no passenger ferry since April 2013.

Ramsgate to Southampton for a cruise

Southampton is a long-distance journey from Ramsgate, and the port has five cruise terminals: Ocean, QEII, City, Mayflower and Horizon. Your cruise line tells you which one, and the driver needs that name to take you to the right building.

Choose a pickup time that leaves a generous margin before your boarding time, which the cruise line sets. The fixed fare is agreed before you go and does not change if traffic slows you down on the way.

If you would rather stay in a hotel the night before sailing, book the car to the hotel instead; the fare is quoted for that address in the same way.

Planning the day of a long journey

Set the pickup time from the far end: the ship's boarding window, the start of the event or the time you are expected at the other address. Then add the drive and a margin for the motorways. A few things help the day go to plan:

  • Choose the car by luggage as well as seats: the executive car takes two or three large cases, the estate three or four, the people carrier four or more.
  • Put any planned stop in the booking, with roughly how long you want.
  • Give a mobile number for the day and the name the booking is under.
  • For a cruise, have the terminal name and your boarding time ready when you book.

Evenings, events and days out in London

For a show, a dinner or an event in London, the executive car and as-directed hire work well together: the driver takes you in, stays on call while you are there and brings you home to Ramsgate afterwards.

From Ramsgate the drive into London follows the A299, the M2 and the A2. Late-night returns cost no more: the fixed fare is the same at night, at weekends and on bank holidays.

Long-distance journeys to other UK cities

A long-distance taxi from Ramsgate is booked like an airport run: give us the full addresses, the date and time, the number of passengers and the luggage, and the booking system quotes a fixed fare for the car. It does not change for roadworks or a diversion on the way.

If you want a stop for a meal or a break, put it in the booking. Unbooked stops and big route changes asked for during the journey are among the few things that can be added to a fixed fare, along with waiting beyond the free time and parking fees or tolls where they apply.

Special occasions from the harbour and the cliffs

Ramsgate has some memorable places to set off from: the Royal Harbour, the Regency houses of the East Cliff and the West Cliff, and the marina. For a special occasion we agree the exact pickup point in advance, which matters most by the marina, where Military Road is not an adopted road.

Tell us what the occasion is when you book, the number of guests and any times that cannot move, such as a ceremony or a table booking, and we plan the pickup around them.

Booking luxury and long-distance travel

Every journey is booked in advance, online, by phone on 01843 247247, by WhatsApp or by email, and cars run around the clock. Cancelling more than 24 hours before the pickup is free of charge.
